    Hi Tony,

    sorry to hear this.

I would say the replies from Jacko's downwards are the most useful.

    This is NOT on.

this is really bad - I cant beleive anyone would do that to your son. WTF.

Id be straight down there with words to the head teacher - and then follow it up in writing and cc it to the Governors of the school.

Really hope you get this sorted.

I like the £20 idea Probably something Id do in all honesty as it gets the results faster and stops them in thei tracks.

Bullying can never be justified, but against a child who cannot see ?

          That's lower than low.

However, Rutger Hauer seemed to make a good account of himself in Blind Fury. Which goes to prove that, even though it's just a movie, the blind do not have to be defenceless.

In this instance however, equipping your son with a Katana might cause more problems down the line.

          However, YOU are his weapon.

Strike hard and strike true. Keep the pressure on the school. GL !
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I was bullied myself at school...and this was a private school. i only attended for a single term as I returned to my gov't school immediatly. I've never told my parent's what was going on.

I can only imagine that I was bullied because of my height and where i was from. I was spat on. verbally assaulted. Even though there were many many witnesses to these events..when it cam to making a complaint no one backed me up. I've had to live with it since then...it definitly is a scar that has struggled to heal.

This needs to be nipped in the bud and sending notes ain't gonna do it. perhaps your son could carry a gel on his hand and somehow place it on the offender's clothes when he is attacked. Then you can take care of it yourself in person but ASBO's are pretty ineffective IMHO.

              Hi Tony,

              Any update on the situation?
My sentiments are echoed by a lot of people, but being married to a teacher I am at the more moderate end (i.e. hang the culprit and his parents, uncles, aunts, etc... to stop them breeding of course!).

Hope your son is getting better treatment now.

Bullying is awful. I never told my parents either but suffered mental bullying for years mainly because of my accent. My brother changed schools for the same reason. It is something that you have to rise above, but for a blind child to suffer this is beyond belief.

Crikey, I'd have thought borstal was tougher than the average private school. I guess those prep/public schoolboys aren't all the angelic choirboy types one imagines

It all went really quiet on that front when we made it clear that if anything happened again we would take matters further - press etc.

To be honest my son is that unhappy there he rang up a school for the blind to get the information sent to him with a view to changing schools. I'll back him 110% in what he wants to do - I don't want his education to suffer because he is unhappy at school. He says he wants to go to a school that caters for his needs and to be 'with the same sort of people'. The school he wants to go to is in Worcester and he's quite happy to live out.

I predict a huge fight with the LEA in the very near future.
