              Yes, exactly that - supply and demand, sniping hides demand and prevents correct estimation what it will be, this makes people make lower bids on the basis of their incorrect calculation that demand is low (as snipers only bid at the end). Just another reason why this practice should be banned or worked arounded (auto auction extension or random auction closures).
