Yes, they have I think 5 CRM products! some will undoubtedly go.

Siebel otoh is large, slow, expensive, and unwieldy, so I'm pretty sure it will stay.

it's not about project management etc

there are two choices for blue chip multinationals...

      best of breed

      or

      one vendor

who in their right mind would ever go for best of breed and have a multitude of software suppliers and integration for their.... crm, ebp, financial, stock control, production management etc blahblah ? who would do this and take the associated risks of one vendor blaming the other when things don't work ? you want to put your name on such a decision ?

      or

buy software for the whole enterprise from one vendor

and in this space, there are not many end to end enterprise software vendors to choose from

yes oracle have their fusion but isn't that just a mish mash of all the products they're aquired over the last few years which they try to hang together ?

there is no other choice but SAP ne c'est pas ?

      Milan.
No such thing as "buy software for the whole enterprise from one vendor".
What tools does SAP have for BI, analytics, data mining et al? They would have to be tacked on. And any large blue-chip multinational without these tools won't remain competitive for long.

      PS Don't say Netweaver - that's crap.
      Hard Brexit now!

The clue is in the username "....PM". That means "...not a bloody clue"
I think the problem was the company had dumped support for BAAN ages ago but was still using it.

And you will be pleased to know I am not PM ing the replacement - but I know we are using Great Plains!

Oh and Sas - what exactly are you a guru of?

So after being flamed for a stupid question, it seems hardly anyone really knows. I count only 1 or maybe 2 informed answers - is this one of those questions everyone is afraid to ask because they they should already know the answer?!

d000hg i think you have just exposed one of the biggest cons in IT - loads of people walking around spouting TLA's pretending they know what they are doing.

                  Hey ho such is life.

                    rubbish,

                    there is no con here

this is enterprise software for multinational companies

as you see not many people working in this space and nobody outside it understands it

Man, even the "For Dummies" books makes it confusing: http://www.google.co.uk/products?q=sap+for+dummies Which the hell book would you need to get your £1000/day rate?
