I think it's called "being helpful". Or failing that "massaging your ego by showing how much you know". Some internet forums are actually based around this concept, rather than petty personal insults and snide comments about the government...

Well I was trying to be helpful, you asked a clear question with a disclaimer that you felt daft not knowing in the first place and I answered with a basic summary.

i tell you what, anyone who knows, will agree, sap authorisations concept is a science in itself

you need a phd to understand the screens which are used for creating and generating profiles etc

Current version of BI - 7.0. Been around for years ( though prior to 3.x it was pretty poor ), used VERY widely amongst, oh, large blue-chip multinationals. Nestlé, Novartis, for example...

Your knowledge of SAP seems to be stuck in the late 90s.

I have no need to massage my ego - plenty of folks tell me it is big enough as it is.

Regarding being helpful, I am not sure I can add much to what is on SAP in wikipedia or other sources of public info. It very quickly becomes mumbo jumbo SAP specific terminology if you want to go more in depth than the public info.
