God I hope so I really do, his statement is a bit unclear though as to whether its just help to try and get the extra £ back or whether they will cover it. Even if I can get £100k back I would be happy.

Just got off the phone from ICESAVE, I pushed them for an answer on the transfer (not aggressively) and the chap just put the phone down.

german chancellor merkel said something similar a few days ago, turns out that it was only a "politcal commitment" and not a total underwrite but they would see what they can do..

tbh I think it's the beeb fishing for a storyline, nothing on bloomberg or anywhere else as far as i see

            The BBC have this up:

I certainly hope for anybody with >50k it means the lot - and it does seem as though it could. But the initial report I heard seemed to be in the context of the Icelandic government not meeting their obligations. As ever the devil will be in the detail.

I'm hoping its the lot, though I do feel guilty its the tax payer being hit. I really hate Iceland now.

I saw the Darling interview on Breakfast, he ws quized if it were only 50k and he said "No all of it". Good news if true.
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

So that's another £4 billion the govt.will have to cough up.
