... but the level of debt now is far worse. Brown has hidden much of the nasties in PFI, but the fact is that we are living far beyond our means with spending/waste outweighing revenues by 24.4 Billion in the previous quarter.
Most people at the moment have no clue as to the seriousness of this situation, but it will all become clear over the next year or so as what was an avoidable recession truly bites, how big this black hole really is.
Constant failure to cut interest rates over the past few months can be laid firmly at Brown's door as he removed the opportunity for his government to control interest rates in 1997 by handing powers to the overcautious and thus inept MPC/BofE.

Pure fantasy. If you want to worry about democracy being at risk from those who fear the other side of the House, worry about the Right. They have more of a track record of musing that democracy is not working.
