It's astonishing how many people have an opinion on the Bible, or the Koran or the Hindu scriptures, who've never read it. Or have an opinion on what these faiths teach, when they've never bothered to study it. Well, it's not astonishing really - it's simply evidence of closed minds.

Well parents are still staunch Christians and as a child I read the Bible intensely, so sorry - my opinions are the result of a lot of thought, reading and analysis.

Where in that is there anything that it makes sense to believe is "true"? It's not history. It's not saying anything about God, the universe or anything.

do this - do it this way
ok so this one is only about bossing people around
do you wish to write more that it does not make sense to believe

I suppose we'll never know but if there was a supreme intelligence who started it all off, she, he or it, for want of better words, has obviously never intervened again. Because he doesn't exist.

You're one of the few then. I know some Christian folk whose beliefs are also the result of thought, reading and analysis, even if I don't agree with their beliefs or conclusions, I can respect the process they went through to get there. ( C.S. Lewis a case in point).

That will always remain a mystery. Maybe things just "happened". Which is actually, I admit, a weakness of the atheistic viewpoint.
However not as weak as creating a supernatural being to explain things we don't understand.
And especially not the myth of the virgin birth and resurrection and other such nonsense.
