Perhaps they were all those things outside the realm of their speciality.
It's easy to point out many otherwise "clever" people (in the sense that they would score highly on an IQ test) who are perhaps not very "wise".

Religion; it's all about who's got the best imaginary friend.

And to think, people kill, maim, rape and torture because of it.

People have killed in the name of football, or even atheism. It doesn't make football a bad thing, nor atheism. These arguments are really rather peurile.

And research has shown that the people who persue activities which benefit society around them are more likely to be religious than not.
