I'm glad you have the ability to predict the behaviour of all other road users.Originally posted by TykeMerc View PostAwareness and observation is preferable to sitting mindlessly in Lane2.
However, if you're already in lane 2 before you get to the slip-road you've got two possible safety areas when things do go pear shaped.
You drive your way and I'll drive mine.
As for your 50k miles per year how much of that is over the entire 2200(ish) mile motorway network?Comment

I do if they don't use Lane1 when it's free i.e. when there's a safe gap between the vehicle you've just overtaken and you and the next vehicle to overtake will take >30 seconds to reach.Originally posted by Churchill View PostMiddle lane hogging might be a problem.
However, is someone who is constantly overtaking traffic in the left hand lane a middle lane hogger? I don't think so.Comment

A good environmentally friendly idea. When the motorway bends rights move from lane 1 to 2, to 3 and back again, like in formula1. Also, try to keep as close the the car in front as possible - hopefully he will not think you are pressurising him to change lane, if so just flash your LED lights to indicate that you are slipstreaming. Try to slipstream behind the biggest juggernaut you can find, and try to glide down hills with the clutch disengaged.Originally posted by ace00 View PostGood point. Also if the road consistently bends to the right you should actually be in the right-hand lane as this will save you money in petrol due to actually travelling less distance - I hope government policy makers are taking note of this carbon saving measure.Comment
