You've more chance of approaching a slower vehicle in the left-most lane, why put yourself in a position where you constantly have to make pointless manouvres?
Xeno, you're wrong on this one buddy.
I don't think so, fella. Hogging lane 2 when lane is clear is not how it is supposed to work.
You can't sit there waiting while you catch up with a slow moving vehicle 1 mile down the road.
In your world you don't even use lane 1 - so why is it there?
At 70mph, acceptable. As I have mentioned before, the ruts worn into the left-most lane of the motorway are dangerous!
Travelling in the middle lane will give you equal chances of moving to any lane if the need arises.
Bull.
I've driven far too much on the UK motorways (50k miles a year isn't unusual for me) and never noticed significant ruts in lane1. Since I always drive in the left lane unless actually overtaking and I drive a standard sized car I should have noticed these dangerous ruts.
People who sit in the middle lane should be shot or more interestingly dragged to the roadside and hanged with piano wire to educate their fellow lousy drivers who lack lane discipline.
Simple really, the law in this country is that you drive on the left unless actively overtaking.
They should not be in the middle lane if lane 1 is clear. That is what lane 1 is for!!
1. I'm perfectly f**cking calm!
2. So, you're in the left most lane and you're approaching an entry slip-road. You can't see that there's any traffic coming down the sliproad from your present angle. What do you do and why?
I always stay in lane 2 when I'm towing my caravan. I'm usually travelling faster than the HGV's in lane 1, and it's a pain pulling in and out when towing a 20ft caravan
