Any golfers? I'm thinking about taking it up. Pro's and Con's please.

Golf
"I hope Celtic realise that, if their team is good enough, they will win. If they're not good enough, they'll not win - and they can't look at anybody else, whether it is referees or any other influence." - Walter Smith

Pros
It's actually great fun
Fresh air and sunshine
Time with mates talking about tulipe
Beer in the clubhouse
It's en vogue now
You will start to enjoy watching golf on TV (this might be a con)
Cons
It's not the easiest game to play (but such a joy when you get it right)
Not exactly cheap
You look like a geriatric p**f while playing and dressed in golfing gear
It's boring playing on your own so when your mates let you down you're stuffedComment

if you got to move around contracting and don't get to know golfers in your new place quick then you will golf alone which is very dullComment

Perhaps a pro for you, but a con for every non-golfer:Originally posted by Dave.Mac View PostAny golfers? I'm thinking about taking it up. Pro's and Con's please.
You'll be able to drone on endlessly about your clubs and technical pros and cons of various technologies (steel vs. graphite), also ridicule other older members of the club, talk about your wrist action and shaft length among people who will nod sagely and discuss your handicap. You get to wear silly clothes and white socks and get to spend a huge amount of money on useless bits of metal and plastic.
The list is endless, but in short, you'll become even more of a boring bastard than you are now. But can mix with people who think it's all terribly interesting and meaningful.
Finally you don't have to listen to your missus yapping on Sundays because you be at the club. She meanwhile can take a lover to spice up her life which she'll need as her husband is such a boring old fart.
