Again I disagree...EO was already in the lane and had lane 'ownership', Dr Who was merging (ie entering the lane that EO was already in). Even if EO sped up and flicked the other driver the bird...although not showing courtesy to other road users, he was still in the lane, and therefore had right of way.

PS I am in no way suggesting EO is any kind of road hoodlum - just demonstrating that no matter how he acted he was in the right, Dr Who was in the wrong.

+ Dr Who was a drug fiend who shouldn't have been driving anyway

I think you will find you are wrong there.
If they are level neither driver will be aware that the other is indicating in which case the car that wishes to change lanes is obliged to do so safely and should assume the other drivers can not see his indicators. He should let the inside car go and the one behind that should give way to traffic crossing in front of him thus creating a gap for the rightmost car to filter into. Unless otherwise sign posted.

I am not qualified to give the above advice!

Back up your statement with facts. The only thing that the Highway code says about merging ishere number 134. The Highway code says nothing else about
right has always priority over left
. The only point it states you give way to the right is at a roundabout. Even a double white dotted line doesn't mean give way to the right, it means you give way to the main carriageway (that's both left and right).

Going back to the OP's post. The damage is on your front bumper, but midway on his car. If the lanes are meant to merge then you could be at fault. If they aren't meant to merge, then he's driving with undue care and attention.

                  This is nice.

So - for the record EO, the good advice appeared halfway up this thread re contacting the insurance company, the police, recording the events, and not sparing the details.

Here - towards the bottom of the thread, we're seeing how many times we can split this particular hair until we're down to individual atoms. Let the free-for-all commence.

D.M, If you keep googling, sure you will find it. Was in the old Highway Code, as i remember it, with diagrams of who has priority over whom.
TLG has pointed out a case where there are dead level, so one can't see etc.
Once again, I'm referring to a merging of two lanes into one where 2 cars are trying to 'squeeze' bumper to bumper into the single lane.
Obviously, if anyone crosses any lanes onto the path of incoming traffic, it's different.
I'll leave it at that, no point in arguing to death, last man standing and all that.
