Stay contracting where the uncertainty creates 'headcount freezes' and so makes your extension more likely and do not wimp out and go permie where you'll be high on the list of 'last in first out' folk when they make redundancies soon.
Oh and don't buy a house at the top of the market. And don't try and sell your previous property in a falling market when there are no buyers.

Avoid paying for phones / Broadband by using the client's phone & internet connection.
