Most people in this country drink too much. The following are pointers to alcoholism

    - needing a drink every day
    - binge drinking at weekends (or the week come to that)
    - not being able to stop at 2 drinks

It's true that liver disease (especially in women) is rising at an alarming rate. Also that alcohol has a lot to answer for in the current obesity epidemic. Alcohol is just useless calories.

Basically if you can't keep to a max of 2 drinks a day and cant have a few days off ocassionally, you have a problem.

I dont see the point in going to the pub for just two pints !

.... but then I don't go very often.

Even if someone only has two drinks a day, but that is all they think about obsessively then they too are alcoholic.

I think there’s a problem with the drinking culture in this country, in my last gig in the city we’d go out for lunches and stay in the pub all afternoon sometimes. People would come in with stories of what they got up to the night before and how ‘cool’ it is to get absolutely paralytic.

You only have to go abroad to somewhere where they have designated English pubs and areas segregated off from the rest of the tourist areas so we can all self destruct away from the normal people.

                Clearly.
I'm quite bored with the childish alcohol obsession and antics.

Exactly, I recognise I sometimes binge at weekends sometimes and aim to address it. There are some people in denial on this board that their daily drinking is not a problem. British people do not drink like the French. Looks like a hit a nerve with some that have drinking problems, look at yourselves guys and don't blame me!
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”
