Take it back and get one of the other ones. Tell them as an irish lass you can't function without a blood alcohol level under 40%. 60% in the winter.

The instructions on the side of medicines are there for a reason. E.g. Take with food, and avoid alcohol, aren't optional recommendations, they are based on the Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic profiles of the drug. These are tested in clinical environments. No amount of anecdotal evidence or suposition on t'internet should over-ride the advice of a medical professional which is based on sound clinical research.

As someone who has worked in phase 1 clinical trials I can see you are giving some poor advice.
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Thanks for that - so I should follow the advice in the leaflet with the drugs - they don't mention any interaction with alcohol. But I'll stick with the aforementioned drunken side effect of my other pills - it doesn't need any augmentation to keep away the dark nothingness...

Did you get to take the drugs, or just watch?

I haven't searched the internet for this,it's based on experience...

No drugs are tested with alcohol, for obvious reasons. There are two issues

1/ the dynamic action of the drug, it's effect

2/ the kinetic action of the drug, how the body metabolizes the drug

It is known alcohol can effect either of the above

So drinking while taking medication can reduce the effective dose and render the medication ineffective by lowering the dose.

AND/OR it can interact with the effect of the drug, making it ineffective or causing side effects

As a rule drinking and taking any perscription medication should be avoided if you actually want it to work, usually from a dynamic perspective, but there could also be known or unknown side effects.

If I wanted to carry on drinking I wouldn't bother taking the medication.

There are four phases to all clinical studies, but when we are dealing with anti-HIV drugs we are mainly concerned with the first two. Phase I clinical trials focus primarily on safety and on what is called the "pharmacokinetics" of the drug in question -- that is, on how the drug is distributed throughout the body and how the body metabolizes the drug. These studies help researchers determine where the drug becomes concentrated after it is taken and how long it lasts in the blood stream

Are you sure about that BP?
