In that case, the answer to whether I'm an alcoholic or not is a definitive and resounding "NO!".

Now, sod this for a game of soldiers, I'm off collect the current squeeze and we're off to the pub.

I'm off to the gym, but might sit in the bar and watch the footy while other half does her swiss ball thing.

Might have orange juice, might have something else..

As usual you missed the point, I'd try to explain but you're too thick
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Ditto for me (except if I called him my "current squeeze" I'd get knacked!)

            Have a good evening everyone!!!

I wonder if that and the practise of drinking weak beer at work during the industrial revolution, because it was healthier to drink than the water, is what's ingrained our culture as one based on the need to get pissed as a social event?

Or is our problem with binge drinking more to do with the opening times, that until recently were restricted, so we got used to the practice of necking the beers quicker than our fellow europeans do?

                  Wow

Well this one has rattled a few

The title of the original post was "Are you an alcoholic.?"

I think it is extremely important not to mix up

                  1) Drinking
                  2) Heavy Drinking
                  3) Alcoholism

Alcoholism is a progressive and fatal condition and unless the drinking is 'arrested' and the individual makes significant changes to their daily existence (there is no cure for alcoholism but a daily reprieve can be achieved) so to keep from drinking alcohol the prognosis is grim.

Heavy drinking, while is a symptom of alcoholism, is just that, heavy drinking. An individual who is not alcoholic will be able to moderate or stop without too much difficulty.

The big problem is convincing an individual that they are number 3 and not indulging in 2.

I think below is the best guide to anyone who is wondering the posed question of the original post

If, when you honestly want to, you find you cannot quit entirely, or if when drinking, you have little control over the amount you take, you are probably alcoholic.

British people do not drink like the French. Looks like a hit a nerve with some that have drinking problems, look at yourselves guys and don't blame me!

How do you plan to address your binge drinking? You've also mentioned the need to stabilise your moods, maybe you have a bigger problem.

The only nerve you hit with me was when you had to have such a go at SA and mentioning her weight etc. Does it really matter? Fat or thin addicts come in all shapes and sizes, just because a woman is 50kg doesn't mean she doesn't live a life of excess and who on earth are you to judge if she does?

Some of the most interesting, talented and clever people I've met are addicts the more nauseating are those who tut! (and usually have their own issues of control and/or addiction anyway!)
