I enjoy drinking but have decided to cut down as its cutting into work time. Whereas before I could do all weekend and still be fit on Monday it now takes until Tuesday until everything is back to normal. Weekend before last was too much having drunk for 15 hours (mixture of Ebbelwoi, Guinness, stright Vodka, Fliegende Hirsch - Red Bull and Jägermeister) I felt rough. Last weekend was just as bad but we go out with mates every weekend socially and over here you just seem to get dragged in. There is no onus on drinking fast (although binge drinking among the younger generation is catching on) but you do drink. First you'll be in the pub having a few beers, then with the beers you'll be doing Schnapps or Jägermeister or...and unlike the UK its not a mix drink, you'll get a glass of whatever and be expected to drown it in one. Hardly ever drink at home though as I feel uncomfortable unless friends are around. Then again, I love smoking as well and wish I could smoke a whole packet at once, if not then just inject herion into my eyeballs

Most of my drinking is done between 11pm-1am while I am coding, planning, researching etc.
This occurs on any day of the week, and often every day. It is almost always too much, and I can't stop at two drinks.
I personally find it much better to avoid it altogether. Last month I stopped for a whole month. I felt better for it. I hoped I wouldn't like it as much when I started again, but I did.
I don't need people around me to drink.
Thing is, I can't blame it on any kind of personal problems. I have a great life, a beautiful family, and enjoyed a really good up-bringing. I don't feel empty. I'm not stressed (not in my current contract anyway). I just love drink.
My lone drinking, I think, is because I enjoy the feeling it gives me.
