Tell me about it! (Oh you did, in the part I snipped - Never mind). I left the house at 7:50 and reached Romford at 10:50, a grand total of 14 miles. Would have been quicker to walk!

What I couldn't understand was why the *northbound* A12 was blocked off at the Bow roundabout.

I got one of those - some bloke in a girls car (corsa rather than a A3) who was sat in the outside lane of the M621 who was checking his hair in his rear view mirror. He wouldn't move over and when I evetually flashed my lights in pointed at the 'slow' lane to indicate that it was free - presumably so that I should pass on that side.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

        I preferred version 1!

With the volumes of traffic (all 3 lanes full 90% of the time), the overtake on the right makes no sense. Vehicles should be free to travel in any lane at any reasonable speed up to the speed limit.

If a slow car is in the right hand lane and you are travelling faster, you should be allowed to pass on the left.

          IMHO.

            2 main ones

            1. Push- and motor-bikes that ignore the red lights in a junction (easy targets really!)
            2. Self-styled enforcers of the 70 mph motorway speed limit (as soon as they see me trying the middle lane, they change their minds and pull over!)

That's why I always stay in the outside lane - I wouldn't want to be mistaken for one of those types.
