My sister was, and possibly still is, a member of Mensa. She kept it quiet from the rest of the family for nearly fifteen years, fearful of being mocked, until her husband accidentally mentioned it.

But being intelligent, considerate folk, we just shook our heads sadly, and agreed not to embarrass her by ever bringing the matter up again.

The very fact that someone decides to move from a salaried role to that of a contractor or consultant marks them out as being "above average". Above average intelligence probably, above average income usually but one thing is for certain, they are not average.

I quoted something that my grandfather once said as part of a post on CC.net. It was akin to "A leopard never changes it's spots" but with racial overtones.

"Jonners" and "Jakawanka" decided to partake in a little cyber bullying - a pitiful attempt I might add. I'd hoped they'd grown up a bit but unfortunately...
