You should check your permie contract (if you have one at all) - you can be fired pretty much at any time for anything during "trial" period. And if you get fired before you are employed for at least a year you can't use Employment Tribunal.

Indeed I- left permiedom just prior to the first round of redundancies amongst permies with "secure" jobs.

Bottom line - contract or permie, if the fat cats at the top aren't getting enough - you're fired.
