Not true. Have a look on the Jobcentre website. A few weeks ago when I was perusing jobs in the region out of interest, saw a permie position in Blackburn (assuming that's where your location is refering to) doing M$ based web development for a similar amount you get in Manchester.

I would prefer to work in Manchester though to be honest!

that is scary lilelvis, didn't realise the market was that bad.. mind you in my field I noticed 99% of the roles are in financial sector (banking not included)

Even in Europe the jobs are not that great... I noticed Europe rates are getting lower and lower…FFS they are advertising some contracts for 400 euros a day… WTF?? Who’d want to do contracting for that much??/ OK put me on the bench for a couple of months and I’d be begging for it

Oh .. why oh why did I have kids!!

Bummer, I hope things pick up by March...

I would prefer to work here. I did the Manchester thing for five years and got tired of the train, the rain and the smelly chavs. Plus I hardly saw my children.

Anyway, I do Oracle and have no experience in web. I haven't really seen anything good around here. There maybe the odd one going for £25ish which I've applied for, but all I get is "interesting CV". Seriously that's the response I get.

Spock: "Trained? Judging from you, I would have guessed it was trial and error."

If you are getting a response of ‘interesting CV’ then there is something seriously not right with your CV, have someone look at it and critique it!!

I got a response saying ’Distinguished CV’ I was a bit worried, but then I got offered the role, so am thinking it’s a good response… but seriously the response you are looking for is CV fits skill set - even if you don’t get offered the role, you should try to change your CV to make it closer to whatever the adds is, or whatever field you want to develop in.

Or just do what one agent told me. Cut and paste parts of the job spec into your CV.
