There really isn't a massive difference between the north and south since all the town centres and high streets got over-run with chain stores. Tescos is Tescos wherever it is.

Apart from the slightly worse weather up north it has some plus points:

Greenery if you like walking on it rather than eating it.
Cheaper house prices, though lower wages.
Not as many mockneys and snobby twats giving it the big I am.

    Biggest downside to the north:

The majority of the women are munters who like their food too much or are grandmas by 30. All the fit ones relocate near a premiership football stadium or have a real bad attitude to ugly blokes.

    Milan.

It's a well worn bench that one.

I know people who have dedicated their professional careers to Oracle, strange as it may seem. At least they don't have to keep re-training every 3 years to keep up with the latest tool-sets. For that reason maybe I should have stuck with COBOL. Skills for life.

    Yep, you're stuffed.

Last time I saw Oracle it came on a pile of 50 or so floppy disks. Glad I wasn't the one lumbered with installing that lot!

Anyway, permie is over and done for me. I'm over 40 anyway - not that I put that on my CV. I'm hunting for freelance work now. Perhaps one day I'll find something.

Or just do what one agent told me. Cut and paste parts of the job spec into your CV.

I got a response saying ’Distinguished CV’ I was a bit worried, but then I got offered the role, so am thinking it’s a good response… but seriously the response you are looking for is CV fits skill set - even if you don’t get offered the role, you should try to change your CV to make it closer to whatever the adds is, or whatever field you want to develop in.

I would prefer to work in Manchester though to be honest!
