Nice to see you're still on your one-woman, PC, we love Muslims march, Sal.

Keep up the slightly lower than average work.

      Nice.

You could try reading the last few pages before you comment eh?

I don't know about realistic, but it certainly can be fun. In real-life, if I were to set my pet boar onto someone while shooting them multiple times with a big crossbow and then dancing on their corpse, there may be consequences.

This is really only the concern of local residents, and should be treated as a community issue. Similiar to a planning application where only the concened parties are allowed to air their grievences.

If the MAJORITY of local residents are in favour of the minaret, then it should go ahead. It doesn't matter what the issue is, we live in a democracy and the majority vote should be allowed to stand.

Can't believe the narrow mindedness of some people on this forum. Lots of muslims I know are level-headed, hard working and family orientated people.

To address the balance of this thread, I'll speak for the 'other side', see what people make of it.

            - Go to any High St on a Fri/Sat night, and you'll be hard pushed to find a muslim getting p!ssed or drunk causing problems for everyone.

            - Look at their family structure (also for Sikhs & Hindus) and they always look after their elders, whilst we just shove our parents in a home.

            - Hard working, and putting in long hours. Can't imagine too many of us doing what they do.

So they're not that bad after all. I think our 'Britishness' is in doubt because we don't know what it means to be British. Getting drunk, spending all hours in the pub, teeenage pregnancies, hoodies, pornography, football hooliganism - by and large, this is not caused by muslims, and for me, these are qualities I wish we embrased more in our society.

I think we need to take a look at ourselves a bit more, and find out what it is we are really trying to protect in our Britishness.

Let's hope that planning refuse the app, or it will set a precedent for the rest of the country.

              embrased
              .
Surely it has the potential to set a precedent for other to follow and hence is relevant to more than just a single community?

About half of North London would disagree with you. The other half are out getting pissed or drunk causing problems.
Drivelling in TPD is not a mental health issue. We're just community blogging, that's all.

I would imagine the MAJORITY of Oxford residents will oppose the 'call to prayer' being blasted across their English town three times a day so democracy should be the winner.... or maybe not seeing as Islam puts itself above democracy.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

So you routinely go to Oxford and check planning applications, JUST IN CASE, a precedence is set and therefore could effect your chances of a getting a conservatory, extension, etc?

What I object to, is the constant barraging of anything to do with muslims or Islam, where we allow no room for dialogue or discourse. Its either my way or no way. We're no better than the Nazis my granddad fought against.
