sas I'm more English than thee
you lot, all complaining while enjoying the benefits of the immigration policy
you lot need to learn to lead by example
you want the immigrants to integrate
then lead by example and go an integrate with them
perhaps there should a 'hug an immigrant day' when every member of the indigenous population has to go and befriend and immigrant and see the beauty of cultural diversity
you could visit them, they could visit you, you and they could cook meals and compare family life, and it could be a real opportunity for integration and making new friends for life
problem solved

Dammit Denny, now you've made me side with the Daily Mail readers.
I don't agree that this resistance is due to fear of terrorism. This is about an expectation that the host will change to suit their wants. I have no beef with the chinese, indian or any of the communities that exist in most of the UK's cities because I enjoy the diversity that they provide but at the same time I don't expect (or want) them to impose their values on mine.
countless British citizens also emigrate to live abroad but have no intention or inclination to absorb the culture of the host countries they live in.
This is also wrong in my opinion. I'm sure the locals really appreciate it when some bloke sells his taxi to move to their village and their local cafe and social areas turn into some mockney pub, serving all day breakfast with genuine heinz baked beans and having karaoke (sp?) with buy one get one free alocopops. Why not convert their local <insert place of prayer here> into a spearmint rhinos and be done with it.
I have recently bought a flat in Bulgaria but don't actually intend nor am I expected by the authorities to eat Yoghurt everyday and learn fluent Bulgarian.
Why bother, I mean if they are to stupid to speak english just talk louder. This expectation that everyone will make life easy for us by speaking fluent english and then complaining that you can't understand your local shopkeepers accent is complete hypocrisy.
If I were to live and work in an Islamic country, I would have to follow their culture in much the same way as you expect them to follow what you consider ours. Mainly because the laws of the land and intrinsically tied to the Islamic faith, unlike here where church and state are separate. But I would object to not being allowed to drive and wearing a headdress all day. Why should I become a de-facto Muslim, in other words when I don't wish to do this?
Why would you choose to go to a country (knowing the rules full well) and then expect to pick and choose which ones are applicable to you?
Just my £0.02 British Pounds
* There is an air of complete hypocrisy in my post because I am currently working in Germany but my German is pathetic. BUT I have not made a choice to live here and don't expect them (locals) to change to meet my needs or pick which laws I follow.Comment

My effort goes as far as supporting the local Balti and I don't see why it should go any further.Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment
