I spoke to tax guy once, a real one, not the phone jockeys that answer the enquiry lines. He seemed quite geeky almost autistic and actually genuinely interested in tax and the finer points of the tax code, and probably without much empathy for others. I could see him spending his own time (even without work interent access) looking up stuff like this. HMRC might be a big bureauracy but they have many different individuals working for them.Comment
