I spoke to tax guy once, a real one, not the phone jockeys that answer the enquiry lines. He seemed quite geeky almost autistic and actually genuinely interested in tax and the finer points of the tax code, and probably without much empathy for others. I could see him spending his own time (even without work interent access) looking up stuff like this. HMRC might be a big bureauracy but they have many different individuals working for them.

I've worked on loads of where they didn't have internet access!

I always thought that was why contractors got paid so much on government gigs...

I think some of yous give them way too much credit - they're civil servants, and probably aren't even allowed access to the internet at work!

Not that much different from contracting except when you spend all afternoon in the pub the rate sucks.

I'd be careful what you posted, I'd say HMRC have a closer eye on this place than you think. If I worked for them it's what I would do - I can't believe that everyone who works for Hector is less bright than me. Also be careful purely becuase this place is open to google.

As long as you didn't say "I am JoBloggs Ltd I am IR35 caught but do £1 salary and £900k divs and don't have an accountant" then I don't think it would matter.
