Oi Alexei, shut it. I admire your trabantesque attempts at humour, but you think you can come to Hing a land, with your commie, potato worshiping ways? insulting our good citizens with your stalinesque stories about oppressed squirrels? and cabbage fortified iron block sandwiches?
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Well the head of HMRC has just quit, so it's going to be something big.

            Not lost. Merely mislaid.

BBC political editor Nick Robinson said he understood ministers had been aware for nine to 10 days.

Mr Darling is expected to outline the measures taken to protect those whose data has been lost.

The resignation of Mr Gray was accepted because disks were transported in breach of rules governing data protection.

Perhaps Darling is going to do a Geoffrey Howe:

"Since I came into this job in the summer, I've been shocked to discover that, everywhere I turn, I see the results of f***-ups, waste and idiotic legislation by the previous incumbent, and more effort spent trying to keep the problems hidden than to sort them out.

"Well, the golden legacy we inherited in 1997 is now in a handcart to hell and I'm not staying to sort it out. I'm off. And if the Right Honourable Members opposite have got any sense, they'd be off too."
