Hats off to you sir, it's refreshing to see someone well informed, that isn't one of Bill Gates' drones. 1080p on a 50" bravia is very sweet (Spiderman 3 on blu-ray needs to be witnessed), and has had my Xbox 360 owning chums openly weeping into their embossed Microsoft hankies.

I've actually been waiting for an XBox 360 version of XboxMediaCenter(XBMC) to be released so I could go HD. Yesterday I found out that the PS3 supports Linux without any chipping or developer kits or anything, meaning I can run MythBuntu or something on there. I will probably be going for one of these now. Microsoft need to get their act together.

Make sure you get the latest firmware updates then yes, DVDs are upscaled (and upscaled better than my samsung HD tv)

plus if you leave the DVD in the PS3 then you can watch it on your PSP whilst lying in bed

Yes, that is the best machine, with the higher quality components and finish. They are cutting back on manufacturing costs now so if you're going to get one, get a 60GB model, quick.

I've just had an email from Asda about delivery, after I sent them a stroppy note asking why I hadn't even had the chance to choose a date yet:

Asda no longer have it on their website.

Despite it showing in stock, today's email says

Unfortunately, we have not yet received your goods from the suppliers.

Thank you for your patience and we will be in contact with you again as soon as we know more.

Their support team have now told me

Your order has been placed directly with the manufacturer and they have advised they are due to deliver to our warehouse
As soon as the item arrives at our warehouse, we will contact you to arrange a suitable delivery date.

I've sent another sarcy email back, and await the next response.
