The basis of Enoch's point was right. It is undeniable that having people of different cultures does create tensions that simply do not exist in a more homogenous society and there is no society of mixed origin that does not have significant problems. I used to think Brazil was one example of a mixed society that really works, but not so if you do a bit of research.
The problem was the language, all that "grinning piccanies" stuff certainly gave the impression that race rather than cultural difference was the important issue. These things do need to be tackled rather more sensitively and for once I think the Blithering Drivelling (Phony Tory leader) Cameron got something right in his speech the other day.bloggoth
