Surely their insurance would have paid for this?

Actually, I'd be very interested to know if they had insurance, and what they were able to claim.

Quite possible, I've have said all along the the mother hasn't show any maternal feelings towards the loss of a child. Most parents especially mums would need to be sedated

I doubt whether the insurance would have paid out, unemployment maybe but only for a period of time. Taking unpaid leave I doubt they would pay out.

If they have been on un paid leave for a long period of time, why not contact the provideder, explain the situation and freeze the payments... If they refuse then they could have gone to the press (again) and shamed them...

Well, you know the saying about trusting your gut instinct...it's usually right.

Hardly judicial I know, but then again instinct is a good counter-balance to rational judgement and a valid tool in the investigative process.

Whereas rational deduction straightjackets the decision path, intuition allows for side-treks which may open up unforseen avenues of inquiry.

Both should be tempered, and I don't consider either to be mutually exclusive.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Every mum that I know has expressed the same comments.
Hopefully they find her and find out what/who/when/why etc... but for the time being she is still a suspect.

I also think there are more important things going on, yet every morning the news has a different headline. Eventually the british people will just get sick and tired of it all, but the PR bandwagon is still rolling..

I totally agree with the 2nd part.

And I know plenty who haven't expressed those comments (Including my wife, who's also a mum). We've no idea what's going on behind closed doors, all we ever see if the face she puts on for the TV cameras. Personally I think it's an incredibly harsh judgement to make just because someone doesn't fit into your view of how someone should act for the cameras in this kind of situation.

If anything I personally think that if she had done it, then the obvious thing to do would be to break down and pretend you cared, not the other way round. Either way everything else we know if pure speculation and heresay.

No one knows what happenned to that little girl, so everything anyone says is just their gut instinct/speculation.

The people who think the McCanns are "guilty" are simply people who cannot understand the way they have behaved/reacted since the start of this, and have therefore decided that something is off.

The fact that they hadn't showed any emotion.
The fact that they were playing tennis 2 days after she vanished.
The fact that they still put their twins in daycare (with strangers ffs!) from day 2.
The fact that they chose to leave their twins to go off round the world, even to see the pope, where it was clear that the twins would be made very welcome.
The fact that Kate washed her childs toy.
The fact that they didn't irratioanlly want to kill Murat.
The fact that they didn't want to kill each other!! Or the managers at the complex! or their friends - how did they not kill their friend who checked on Maddy last ffs?!!

And yes, the main thing that doesn't compute with people...the fact that neither of them have had a meltdown!!! You have kids? Would you be playing tennis? Would you and your wife not be a hysterical mess on the floor?!!

People just dont get this behaviour!

OK, ok, we all know this doesn't mean they killed her. And common sense completely rules out that whole "hiding the body for 5 weeks" theory - that was just ridiculous. But people cannot help but distrust them and feel they are hiding something.
                  The pope is a tard.

The longer this whole story goes on the more ambivalent I become about all of it. I don't know whether the McCanns did the dirty deed or not but the press coverage on this is making me not care.

I do care about the fact that a little girl has probably lost her life (or might now be in a situation where she wished she had lost her life) but the whole question of whether the McCanns did it or not leaves me indifferent.
                    It's Deja-vu all over again!

Why would someone take *that* little girl?
