maybe it was some hip kid breakdance handshake that required some kind of spin on the spot at the end.... you are so out of touch!

I always find the direct approach is best when dealing with untalented handshakes.

Go straight up to him and demand (within earshot of everyone else if possible), just what the hell he's playing at, and demand that he extends all digits for shaking in the future.

He'll soon buck his ideas up. Expect a long and fruitful working relationship to follow.

It's quite simple really, you were supposed to "back-up" onto his finger.

This thread is so wrong, yet so right

He was not offering his hand for shaking, he was merely pointing to where he was taking you to sit down for a chat. Now that you shook his pointing finger you are the laughing stock of the office.

"See that new contractor over there, I pointed to the seats so we could go sit down and he shook my finger. Freak!"

If only that were the case... he shook a few other peoples' hands before mine. Why did I get the finger? Not sure if anyone else did... don't really want to talk about it!
Don't ask Beaker. He's just another muppet.

. . . or he's repeatedly trying to force something where the sun don't shine!

Can we please have somewhere to list 'The Perfect Thread' like a sticky or something, this is too good to lose in the mass of 'oh dears and boomeds'
