Cigarette smoking is going the way of coding.

The cigarette manufacturers are outsourcing it to the subcontinent.

I think what smokers object to is the blaming of all society's ills on them. And the smug b*stards who propogate such tripe.
I was in Wales when the ban was introduced - it's OK, I'm better now - and pubs became a much more pleasant place to be so the ban is A Good Thing indoors.
However, I have to stand on a station platform every day and listen to recorded announcements that inform me that Southeastern Railways will be Non-Smoking after 1st July - including unsheltered, windswept platforms and that really annoys me. Personally I wish their bogs would become non-stinking on 1st July but it ain't going to happen. Next comes the recorded lecturing about my carbon footprint I suppose

I'm opposed to a blanket ban on purely libertarian grounds.

Utterly hate smokey places though, and since I quit seven yrs ago I get pissed of with it in restaurants.

What amazes me is how it actually works. I remember sitting at a bar in San Francisco in the mid 90s and they told me it wasn't allowed - I could not believe it and told everybody I met for ages about these crazy new age eejits.

Then they did it in NY, Ireland and Scotland - I really thought the latter would end up in civil unrest but nowt. The clattier pubs now just stink of bleach and BO - not sure if that is an improvement

I hate going to the pub for a drink (which I like), but coming away smelling of smoke. I expect I'll be going more often after this weekend.

Smokers are a minority now anyway. I think in time market forces would have lead to smoke free pubs, what's happened here is the process has been helped. I don't like the idea of the goverment interfering in our behaviour either, but in a society you have to accept that sometimes the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, Jim.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

If you are serious then I recommend that you do not, under any circumstances, look at any cigarettes that may be available in the shops in Belgium.

                Not quite what I meant!

I was trying to avoid actually saying that when you see the prices over there your first reaction will be to want to stock up. Now I've said it.

So, don't look at the prices!

                  Oh right

Sorry Gonzo - and yes you are quite right. I will not look.

I am writing to my Labour MP to propose a legally enforced ban on farting.

It stinks and it adds to greenhouse gases.
