Just read the policy for the site where I am contracting at the moment - you aren't allowed to smoke in the car park, either!

      Good.

I know that. But if my employer wants me to use my car on their business I am only prepared to do it on my terms.

So let me get this straight. You are going to lay down conditions for your smoking habit to be fulfilled and paid for by your current "employer"?
          Hard Brexit now!

Smokers are such a bunch of kids in more ways than one: impulsive, egotistical, selfish and undisciplined.

Seems fair enough anyway (and nothing to do with a smoking ban).

When I was permie, I had a choice of company car or a cash alternative for my own car - if you are in the same position, then they are probably within their rights to ask you to use the car on company business, since they are providing an allowance for that right.

If you don't get an allowance, then why are you using your own car for business anyway??

But won't that mean that they have to take even longer breaks to get their dose of death?

No. I am going to exercise my democratic right not to use my own car for their business purposes because I don't like one of the conditions they wish to impose upon me.

I don't smoke in my car anyway but that's not the point.

What would life be like without the noble ciggy
Gone would be the warm yellow/brown glow of nicotine stained monitors
Gone would be the comforting sound of hacking flegm filled thoats being cleared.
Gone would be the time honoured game of chasing the fag end down the urinal with the yellow stream of vengeance
Never more to flourish that foil wrapped notepad when asked for notepaper
No more handy foil to wrap that blown fuse
and some think the world a better place without the noble ciggy

I do trade a company car for an allowance. However my contract of employment does NOT give them the right to force me to use my own car. Merely the right to ask me. When using own car naturally I get paid mileage (although it only covers petrol the argument beinbg the depreciation etcv is funded by the allowance).
