It's against the law now, another wonderfully thought through law put in by Nu Liebour. Force everybody with kids up to 11 years old to have big bulky child seat forcing parents with large families to buy a bigger car, pay more road tax and more fuel duty and then up fuel duty for these larger cars saying that they want to get them off the roads because they pollute more and are unsafe to pedestrians......

I have two kids under 20 months and we need as much space as we can possibly get... Two large car seats, either a double buggy or two singles, plus bags full of food and nappies etc... We have an X5 which is pretty big and it's usually jammed full when we all go out...
The new X5 has 7 seats and the 3.0d does 32.5mpg... there are many regular sized cars that don't get near that.Comment

How many times do we need to say it, in the 70's you didn't have to put a child seat roughly half the size of your rear seat into the car, nowdays you do because of the change in law. It is the fact that you have to shove all kids under 11 (or a certain height) into a child seat that is stopping us from shoving 4 kids in the back now.Originally posted by NumptycornerComment

We used to go 5 up in an MGB, 3 kids sat across the little doorstep back seat.
Then it was 5 up in a 2.8 Capri (2 tone paint job and pepperpot wheels
) we were cramped but it was cool at the time.
Now my dad has a feckin' gurt Toyota 4x4 for 2 people.
