Lets face it, England has more gays, more drunks, more terrorists, more murderers, more of everything really.....But your comments really prove everything that everyone hates about the English, ignorant and bigoted. -
And that really gets to the root of the scottish problem:Originally posted by angusgloverLets face it, England has more gays, more drunks, more terrorists, more murderers, more of everything really.....But your comments really prove everything that everyone hates about the English, ignorant and bigoted.
firstly they compare themselves to the English (something they are never going to win either because they are rarely better performers than the English and that if they are beating us we dont really give a sh*t), then they have an obsessive hatred of the English (even though we pay them for the pleasure). If they were more like the Irish, who get on with their own lives and do not have an obsessive inferiority complex about the English, then they may get somewhere.
The best thing that can happen to Scotland is if it toook its oil and its MPs, made itself fully independent within the EU and got on with its own lives then everyone would be happier.Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

I agree that there is a lot of hatred from both sides but to understand that you need to understand the history. The hatred comes from hundreds of years of English opression. true it was a long time ago and maybe we should have had independence a long time ago.Originally posted by DodgyAgentAnd that really gets to the root of the scottish problem:

Independence is still an issue that would cause a lot of issues for both sides, i.e the British Army would then no longer exist. There would be a Scottish Army and an English one. That has issues alone...
I disagree that you pay us for the pleasure though.
I also agree that we are never going to compare to England in sporting events or on the world stage as we are a tiny country in comparison. Our population is largely situated around Edinburgh & Glasgow with the remainder spread across the country.
I am not sure either country would benefit from complete independence, there are too many ties that would need to be severed and that would leave gaps that would be difficult to fill...for both sides.
In my opinion, it would help if more English understood that the hatred exists becaus of years of opression but I also admit that we should learn to move on.Comment

Ireland suffered equally under English oppression. They seem to have moved on whereas the scots want us to feel guilty and to keep paying them money to get drunk or to create public sector jobs.Originally posted by angusgloverI agree that there is a lot of hatred from both sides but to understand that you need to understand the history.
