I saw an interview with Michael Kane a couple of years ago, he said he preferred to live in the US because of the mentality towards successful people, in the US if they see someone who made it, the successful person is used as a role model others aspire to be like, however in the UK when someone makes it big, everyone tries to bring them down.
The example he used is: in the UK if you drive a Porsche or a Ferrari, people don't look at you and say, one day I want to own one a car like this (US mentality), they are more likely to walk towards you and scratch your car.
