You by your own rules may have released someone you believe doesn't play fair, worse/more dangerous than you. Now how stupid is that? I think you fail to see that you mention an academic by name and followed with a slanderous tirade of that person. I hope he doesn't see that or has a sense of humour.

Oh Dear: Is there any other country in Europe where this would cause outrage ?

I don't expect CD's types to play fair, and I have met people worse than him who play a good deal less fair than I imagine he does - have a look at Redwatch (still NOT work safe) if you want to see what they're like. It's the fact that they don't play fair that makes me want to stand up to them. How stupid is that? I know exactly what I'm doing. So what am I stupid, not brave? I can live without your good opinion, but it's a pity because I'm sure you're a perfectly decent person - I just disagree with you on how to deal with these people.Originally posted by Damp CaveYou by your own rules may have released someone you believe doesn't play fair, worse/more dangerous than you. I think you will find that the good academic has had worse things said about him in more public places than this - guess what, I checked before posting.Comment

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment

If I came across as self righteous, apologies.
I am pretty polite normally I hope - but there's only so much you can take. I felt this guy is poison to a forum and I've seen it before.

Originally posted by GreenerGrassFree speech, yes, what has happened over the last decade is the PC doctrine has gone far beyond fighting discrimination and into something quite sinister. Controlling and stifling intelligent discussion on any subject which is contrary to their opinions.
Its almost a programmed standard response from them that anyone who disagrees with the PC party line is "as bad as the BNP", thus using fear and shame as propaganda weapons. It assumes there are just two viewpoints, and if you agree with the opposing one you are automatically part of a group of people who you might actually detest.
A lot of propaganda is based on repetition, if you repeat something enough times, so they reason, people will start to question before opening their mouths, people will decide to only talk about things in private, and the logical next step on the PC agenda is to control peoples' thoughts.
The idea that the BNP will become as powerful as Hitler's Nazi party in 1930s Germany if they get a slot on Question Time is totally and utterly preposterous if you think about it. If anything they are likely to get torn apart by the audience and other speakers, and shown up as idiots.
What will happen eventually is watered down versions of some of their policies will be adopted by whatever party gains power in 3 years time, if not sooner.
Which makes the major politicians attacking them now a bit disingenuous.
The IT analogy would be Microsoft spotting some small software house with an innovative product, slagging them off publicly, and telling any users that if they buy their software, or even look at the box, it will corrupt Windows and they'll die of brain cancer.
Then a month later they buy the rights or swallow up the company, rebrand it and claim it was all their idea in the first place.
Absolutely fantastic post. 100% agreement, esp with insiduous PC brigade.

That's a good point though about context and how the way debates are framed having unintended consequences.Originally posted by realityhack

Yes it is, and I've never heard anyone say that. Sounds like a straw man if ever I heard one. Apologies if I missed someone actually saying that.Comment

Actually, the arguments they forward are very persuasive, if you're a bit thick... Just consider all the idiots that vote for the New Liebour party.Originally posted by Old GregHmmm , wouldn't agree 100%:
