Tell you what Bagpuss, bang on about the negative effects of too much alcohol for a while and see where that gets you.

Personally I made my choices in the full knowledge that it might well be bad for me, but feck me it was fun at the time. Same as I do if I think about the negative affects of the beer I'll probably have on the weekend, or the birthday treats that appear on someones desk every week or ...

b/ You'd encourage your relatives to take them

yeah but I grew up in an environment where we were all encouraged to drink, so I'm just comparing it to that.
OK, in an ideal world no one would take any form of "drugs", but I'm not so hypacritical that I say "ooh dont do drugs, but knock yourself out at the offlicense, and pick me up 20 fags while you're there".
People are always going to do "bad things" - I've just tried them all and made (what I would call) an informed decision on which ones are better/safer than others.

And I'm not saying I'd push drugs on to my younger family, I'm just saying I'd sleep easier at night knowing my 15 year old neices were in a club on coke, fully aware of what they were doing, in charge of their own mind and body, fully capable of functioning correctly, and having a great time...rather than being in a pub, mortal, unable to think clearly or cleverly, lost all sense of streetwise(ness?), unable to hold their own bodies up and about to be taken advantage of by some creepy sex pest.
In my world, coke would be by far the lesser of 2 evils.
Sticking my head in the sand and saying "well you shouldn't do either" is utterly pointless.

and come on man, "They have been around long enough for people to understand the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics" - I didn't even understand that sentence let alone the meaning in it!! And neither would 90% of the population!
You should get yourself a job as a politician!

Prescription is the only way to get any kind of control.
No I don't think they should be on the NHS it's not an illness! Let it be sold over the counter in specialist private sector shops. What would you objection to that be? Some idiot might die?

PS Sally I am not saying don't do drugs, I am saying people need to know the potential consequences, you so far have proved only that you don't. I can introduce you to someone who's life is well and truely fecked up due to harmless drugs. Due to my advice she is now starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Laughed out load at this one for real, got an image of Bagpuss with a white lab coat and a clipboard, lecturing in a nasally voice on the evils of doing drugs.

Because the cost of the care that would be needed just like fags and booze would have to come from somewhere and that would be a tax which would push the price up and defeat the object as there would be a black market run by gangsters like we have today.

It’s the same as cheap fags being sold on the streets, the government gets no tax from them yet has to foot the bill for the NHS care that is needed when people fall ill.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

So she's now on acid is she?

I saw all kinds of things - lights, bats, talking beer pumps, mates face turning onside out etc - I'd ask for my money back if all I saw was a light at the end of a tunnel.

When someone is caught up in a downward spiral they can't see sense anymore. They can't undersatnd why their life is a mess through the clouded thinking/the anxiety attacks/ the ever increasing lows after the highs. Yes I helped someone, is that a bad thing?

I will put it like this, if you (need to) take drugs everytime you go out you have a problem!
