I assume they do, a number of Legal and military experts have confirmed the Israelis are very strict about engagements far more so than the spray & pray Americans.Originally posted by Zigenare View Post
Do Israeli soldiers carry an equivalent to our "Card Alpha"? Just wondering why Norn Irn didn't turn into a Gaza equivalent.
The stone throwing at the border has been going on for decades so one assumes they have a protocol to limit it. As mentioned they have moved towards non lethal control and going for leg shots not centre mass. The foreign doctors around Gaza are quite upset because they get so many customers with lead in their legs, but they are still alive.
NI was a free for all at some engagements especially Bloody Sunday they paid a heavy price for that. Oddly the IRA didn't either legally or with deaths.
I don't think the British had the stomach to eliminate all the protesters for throwing stones, Israel has no choice.
Oddly I suspect the efficiency of Israel sending the leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah to their maker might dissuade a few recruits, they like it in a 5 star hotel in Qatar but not being machine gunned down a rat run. The populace are starting to believe Israel will bring peace.Comment

I disagree with regards to your interpretation of why stone throwers weren't "eliminated" in Northern Ireland - shooting kids is not the done thing, a tenet that was often exploited by PIRA.Originally posted by vetran View Post

As far as Gaza and Hamas are concerned, time will tell.Comment

I agree its not the done thing which is why the Israelis now avoid it, the British army used to be famous for shooting protestors/civilians.
I suspect Gaza will bubble on until Hamas have regrouped, Israel will hopefully be waiting and wipe out the invasion force.Comment

Fair enough its not like we have a history at all. Arguably we grew out of it faster than most my views on the Belgians as colonists are well known. We did however do some horrible stuff historically.Originally posted by Zigenare View Post

How many Gazans are one legged (not shot centre mass and dead) or are locked up shows Israel's commitment to a humanitarian responses to stone throwing.
Fingers most definitely crossed lets hope the Gazans keep to the cease fire.Comment

If a group says “we’ll keep killing until we get a piece of paper with names on it”, it kinda makes them sound a bit terroristy, and when they consider all of the people in a particular area to be legitimate targets, it doesn’t look good.
…but then there’s the other side of the argument, some say the people being killed all deserve to die.
Hard to know which way to think on this one.…Maybe we ain’t that young anymoreComment
