    It's a slippery slope

Conservative councillor bans cheese toastie van because it will lead to motorcycle gangs.

“Horfield ward councillor Claire Hiscott told members the mobile outlet could “lure” secondary school pupils into absconding.”

“Historically we had antisocial behaviour, not just motorbikes, from young adults gathering with alcohol and causing a disturbance.”

“We’re looking to replicate coffee and ice cream rather than a burger or chips van. That’s not something we would consider.”
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

To be fair in the first post it looks utterly stupid but once you read the article it seems to make more sense. For a start it's a burger van, not just cheese toasties. They've cleaned up an area notorious for anti-social behaviour and they are worried a burger van will just provide a reason for it to start up again, which isn't out of the realms of possibility. Funny how something can look completely different with a bit of context. Finnicky and petty maybe but it has some semblance of a point.
