Was it autobreaking because I've had a few cars over the years that have had that "feature".

Me too: the Passat was the worst: unlike the Polo which managed 110k, the Passat didn't make 9k before it was BER*. POS that it was.

*well with gearbox oil at £17 per litre, most of which ended up on the garage floor, driver's door window motor screwed, antilock breaking** system fecked, BER it was. Oh, and the dipstick tube broke off one day when I was seeing how much oil the sump had managed to retain: thank feck for araldite & glassfibre matting.

I think he means Auto-breaking as in he causes an accident and the car ends up in the scrappers a few days later without him having to do anything else.
