Interesting legal view on Kemi V Nigel

This chap has a number of good videos explaining the legal ramifications of certain situations. Here he suggests Kemi needs to apologise to Nigel.

was the sentence below it not enough?

He believes legally Kemi is in trouble having accused Reform and Nigel of lying. Oddly Reform seems to be revelling in it.

AIUI Kemi is saying the Tories haven't published their current membership count so Farage can't credibly claim to have more. All a bit pointless really.

As documented in the video she accused Farage of falsifying Reform's membership figures which are published in near real time from their automated membership DB. He compared them to the last published figures of the Conservatives, if she had better figures there is no harm in her presenting them.

Its the accusation that Reform have actively falsified membership numbers that is the offence and it is pretty serious.

Farage has commented that many ex Tory party members were contacted as if they were members.

The accusation is that the method of counting the numbers is inaccurate, rather than they have been falsified. All depends how good their web-based counter really is.

Well yes, both sides could simply issue audited numbers for a mutually agreed date. Still a storm in a teacup, given the scale of the real issues we are facing. Kemi needs to wind in the aggression and Farage needs to remember he is not a PM in waiting, merely a largely absentee MP in Clacton, else the pair of them are simply going to allow Labour to walk the next election. They need to focus on their common concerns and plans rather than who has the biggest balls (which would be Kemi, it seems...). Everyone really needs to be planning for a hung parliament come the next election, and some sort of coalition would appear to be inevitable.

She described it as fake and misguiding not an error in writing.

And she may be wrong - but a web-based user-driven counter is always going to be open to accusations of double counting. I said "audited" for a reason.

Surely if it is linked to the payment process its fairly solid?

Who should pay for the audit one wonders?
