If I were a Syrian, especially one of the minority Christians, I'd watch carefully before thinking of abandoning the sunlit uplands of unicorn strewn Britain for home.

Illegal immigrants claiming asylum are not permitted legally to work in the UK therefore...

As we're paying for their accommodation, surely it's not beyond the wit of man to knock on their doors, hand them a one way air ticket, £3k each and help them on to a minibus to the nearest airport...

Certainly the ones who've cited the war and Assad's regime as their reason for fleeing Syria.

Back to the original topic, I will bet that we end up with more Syrian refugees due to instability in the area.

On the contrary they had more to contribute than your usual hateful miss-informed bile

You probably already know this but asylum seekers get very little in benefits https://www.gov.uk/asylum-support/what-youll-get

And by your admission they receive benefits. Now that the threat has been removed they have no reason to stay and can go home - if they can't afford to pay for flights then the government will step in and help.

Where is the bile and misinformation?

If you want an honest discussion drop the ad hominem and grow up.

Once you've been applying for asylum of 12 months, and it's not a delay due to you, there is a list of jobs you can sign up for. So there we have it, approved asylum seekers can work and after 12 months many awaiting approval can work. And do.

But you know this. As I said, you're just trolling.
The threat for which asylum was granted has now gone. Surely these refugees can now return to their homelands - if their original claim for asylum was genuine.

With regards to your figure of 20000 I assume you're referring to the 20000 that were accepted as part of the "Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme" and not the ~8000 who have crossed the channel illegally since 2020?
