This might affect those of you who are rentiers who decide to sell:

"We are increasing the stamp-duty land tax surcharge for second-homes known as the ‘Higher Rate for Additional Dwellings’ by 2 percentage points, to 5%, which will come into effect from tomorrow. "

Income tax thresholds to remain frozen until tax year 28/29.

More money for scroungers who have children and give them no breakfast. Who cannot afford some cereal and milk?

Not sure how? Isn't the "Higher Rate for Additional Dwellings" paid when buying a property in addition to one you already have?

Slightly surprising but welcome that the freeze is not extended.

I realise this is a budget thread, but I couldn't let that go unchallenged. As someone who's been living with long COVID for 2.5 years now, and just tested positive again despite really really trying to avoid close contact with people, I beg to differ with your statement.

Most immunology / virology experts also disagree with your claim that it's "ancient history".

But this is more about finding out who took unfair advantage of a government trying to support businesses during a pandemic and, hopefully, reclaiming money that they weren't entitled to. I'd like to think it might also include a probe into the some of the very dodgy COVID supply contracts given out to mates and relatives of some of those in government, but I won't hold my breath on that one (actually, I'm not very good at holding my breath any more ).

Am I right in thinking some contractors might be better off ? - those Salary Sacrificing heavily, and their Umbrella Company passing on ER NI savings. (Savings now 15% from 13.8)

Only if it's not going to become your buyer's primary residence, surely?

Cereal isn't a good breakfast. Most is ultra processed sugar.

                    You want porridge!
