Potential for a digital pound this decade

An interesting speech from Bank of England official Jon Cunliffe who acknowledges the shift away from cash to electronic payments.

Very much so although I have to admit, I very rarely have any cash on me and when I do, it tends to be euros from the odd trip away.

In fact, the only time i can think of when I genuinely need cash is when I am paying for parking and there is no phone reception to pay over the parking app.

The Mrs rarely carries cash but it's surprising how often when we're out she'll ask if I have any cash on me...

She's just checking up on you because hookers and coke are still cash only.

You need large notes to pay for his kinky ways!

this does limit the excess a bit

Surprising how many people queue for cash on the self checkouts. Seems fishy.

£50 in sterling, €50 in euro in the wallet. £10 in the car for basics.

Debit card for parking, don't do apps for parking, don't encourage them.

I always have cash with me, enough to pay for at least a tank of fuel.

It's surprisingly common to find that non-cash payment mechanisms are not working. Supermarkets and supermarket filling stations are the common failures in my experience.

I think for cash, it's use it or lose it.
