Remote work, stay strong and the clients will learn [happy to refer]

Plenty of contractors will take a non-remote role despite wanting remote. I urge you to stay strong and reject disliked terms; the clients will eventually learn.

This one dropped their onsite requirements after failing to get anyone decent on-site. I could have taken the 2 days onsite role but that just encourages the market to not adapt to our needs.

    Stay strong!

Edit: I'm more than happy to refer anyone looking for an ERP data migration role, 600pd OUTSIDE IR35, fully remote.

You are delusional. There are many more people who will take these roles as they need to put food on the table. Same with "inside IR35" and "FTC". Needs must.

I know people will take crap terms out of desperation. I get it.

As always, the gatekeepers are telling me to go away. How dare someone different join their community! (ignore most posts if you don't like them, I get DMs that suggest at least some people don't me being here).

Legit happy to refer decent people to this role, they have no other prospects as of today so it's ripe for the taking.

It's not desperation - unlike yourself not every contractor carries the Vanden Plas badge and operates at the top of the market.

On the whole remote is a fall out from Covid. It's delusional to think the whole world has changed to remote as default. People got cushy for two years and expect it in which case you are going to have a long disappointing life. Hybrid is pretty much the standard so suck it up or move on. A generalisation yes but you've got to understand that and then you can negotiate/chose. Urge you to stay strong and reject hybrid is just dumb. You are rejecting the standard way of working going forward.

Before covid, myself and many others on here were staying away or had long commutes, our contract pool was limited by distance. Fast forward to now we can hybrid and our contract options are much much wider. It's fooking brilliant, yet some people like the OP want their cakes and eat it. Just dumb IMO. I'm in a better position now than I have been in 15 years of contracting. So I have to commute or stay over for two days. Bring it on. Nice night or two away from the family, see somewhere new and get paid handsomly for it. No more worrying about the next gig having to be within 100 miles.

Negotiate your terms for sure. We've been saying that since contracting started, in fact perms should have been doing it from the first ever job application. So not sure why getting yourself hybrid when the client wanted on site is such a new concept.

But, you stay strong. Fight the fight for us.

Still bemused why the guy that does 'proper' contracting is the one making the most noise about day rate gigs on client site. The answer is you are bellend but don't let that deter you.

If not desperation, why are people, who don't want on-site, taking on-site?

These crap gigs are only short term and often bring in over 100k a year so putting you in the top 5% of earners of the country. Some less tha favourable terms for a short period is hardly desperation.
