The Most Reverend Justin Welby was found driving 25mph in a 20mph zone in his Volkswagen Golf last year.
The 67-year-old had been going along the Albert Embankment towards his official residence at Lambeth Palace.
He admitted the offence and was handed three points on his driver's licence following a hearing on Wednesday.
The archbishop, who was caught by a speed camera on 2 October 2022, was sentenced following a single justice procedure - a method to allow courts to deal with cases without the defendant having to go to a hearing.
Sentencing took place at Lavender Hill Magistrates Court where along with the penalty points Mr Welby was ordered to pay a £300 fine, £120 victim surcharge and £90 in legal costs.
Bit boring though, done for 25 > 20 rather than bombing along at 130mph.
£510 and 3 points for 25 in a 20 Did he contest the charge or something? I thought you normally get an offer of a speed awareness course for a first offense and otherwise just pay the £100 fine and accept 3 points.
A contractor colleague of mine was in a hurry, so drove at 60km/h in what he thought was a 50km/h zone. He got caught by a speed camera. Turns out it was a 30km/h zone.
5000 franc fine. (About £3K at the time).
He would have lost his license for three months as well, but he was leaving the country the following week. The police expedited the legal process so he could get it all sorted out while still here.

He didn't pay up in time so it went to Court.
Probably tried to do it himself, as he claimed to have made 3 attempts, rather than ask someone else who was more computer literate.
