Several US media publishers are dropping the Dilbert comic strip after its creator described black people as members of "a racist hate group".
Several media officials denounced the comments by creator Scott Adams as racist, hateful and discriminatory.

Dilbert is a long-running comic strip poking fun at office culture.

In an episode of the YouTube show Real Coffee with Scott Adams, Mr Adams referenced a Rasmussen Reports survey that asked whether people agreed with the statement: "It's OK to be white."

Most agreed, but Mr Adams noted 26% of black respondents disagreed and others were not sure.

The Anti-Defamation League says the phrase was popularised in 2017 as a trolling campaign by members of the 4chan discussion board, but then began being used by white supremacists.

Mr Adams, who is white, repeatedly referred to people who are black as members of a "hate group" or a "racist hate group" and said he would no longer "help black Americans".

He urged white people "to get the hell away from black people".

According to the poll, 53% of black respondents agreed with the statement, but 26% disagreed and others were not sure.

Mr Adams said that those that disagreed were a "hate group".

"I would say, based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to white people is to get the hell away from black people… because there is no fixing this," he said.

It is of course "OK to be white" just as it is "OK to be black" its not OK to be racist regardless of skin colour. Sadly both sides seem to have ignored that.

I actually really admired Scott Adams incisive wit but he has stepped over the line of acceptability from the look of it. Which is a pity, he was one of the few that tackled offshoring head on and pointed out that it was about the money and screwing American workers (of all hues) not enabling poorer nations. I did feel his portrayal of Elbonia was slightly poor taste whilst in a few cases accurate, but so were the Simpson's episodes on offshoring.

He does have a sort of point, whenever someone starts a complaint with "he is white" or "he is black" one has to admit that is racist.

As I say its sadly coming to a nasty crescendo.

I copied it from Sky News who I believe are more right leaning than The Guardian where I first saw the story.

Only after I copied it from Sky News did the story appear on the Beeb website.

(Oh and I couldn't find it in The Torygraph.)

The problem with doing a quick google is that you may just be looking at a left bias and perspective of the survey.

Not sure you can find any other publication as left leaning as the guardian though I would like to see it if you could.
