Email from Parasol saying they had data breach

Anyone get an email from Parasol today informing you they had a data breach in Jan and your personal details were on the darkweb name, address, NI, dob etc and giving you free Exprian to check things? I got one looks official and legit odd thing is though I stopped contracting 12 yrs ago, I never used umbrella and I used one of the bigger accounts I never went near Parasol, only just read the mail from them lots of questions like how the hell they have my details and if so why retain them so long.

Edit: googled looks legit I used Nixon Williams which seems to be part of the group, also seems people knew in Feb this year yet the only emailed me today.

They want you to take something like this CIFAS protective registration - https://www.cifas.org.uk/pr

Which means they have seriously screwed up.

The fact it’s taken then 11 months to tell you that you have a problem shows the scale of the screw up.

I wonder if the private equity firm who bought them recently was aware of the scale of the issue.

im wondering if we can claim compensation from them for this?
I haven’t been with clear sky for years , not in uk any more, but while I did use them they were absolutely USELESS and I’m thinking maybe this is my opportunity to get one over on them by making them pay for their last mess up
if anyone knows about this please help!
What have you lost for which you are entitled to be compensated¿

In the email they give you some enhanced Exprian fraud thing for free for 12 months with code you use to set it up but the code they have given out does not work.

Are you that poor you can afford to buy your own to protect your personal data?

Then kick off at them for taking 11 months to tell you unless you have proof that someone has stolen your details to purchase an iPhone or whatever.

I had a similar email relating to the same thing but mentioning Nixon Williams (who I've used for years). The fact that personal information has been out in the wild for 11 months and they have only just informed is poor. I emailed NW to confirm whether this was genuine (which my research indicates it is) and haven't got a reply yet.
