You implied these trades are in cash ... so you are backtracking now?

Again, in 10 years I've never had a single trade even ask for cash. If they have an invoice system and are legit they wouldn't ask.

Sounds to me like you're making it all up fella to push your/Wail anti-foreigner agenda.

Do you ever get fed up with being so wrong?

Yes me, Bojo and the treasury minister are deluded

Treasury minister David Gauke has said it is "morally wrong" to pay tradesmen such as plumbers, builders and cleaners in cash in the hope of avoiding tax.

He argued the practice came at "a big cost" to the Treasury and meant other people had to pay more.

But Treasury sources stressed Mr Gauke was answering a specific question rather than proposing a policy change.

Labour said the government should be focusing on "clamping down" on "large-scale tax avoidance".

Asked if he ever had paid cash to tradesmen to reduce his costs, London Mayor Boris Johnson said: "I've certainly paid a lot of cash in hand."

In response to the same question, Local Government secretary Eric Pickles said: "Certainly not."

And Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt said: "David Gauke was saying that tax-dodging is wrong and personally I haven't dodged tax."

The government is estimated to lose about £2bn each year to the black economy as tradesmen fail to pay VAT or income tax by not declaring payments and keeping them "off the books".

Mr Gauke told BBC Two's Newsnight there was nothing wrong with paying in cash, but doing so actively to avoid tax was wrong.

I asked her if she knew why, and she said: "Of course! Taxes.".

She was partly right. Taxes is the answer, but not the sort most people assume. An employed person thinks about income tax, which at somewhere between 20 and 45 percent, is the big and noticeable tax for most people. For tradesmen however, the bogeyman is VAT.

But VAT is only 20% you say... and don't you just pass that on to your customers? Yes and yes. But still, the bogeyman is indeed VAT.

Just because they are men doesn't mean they aren't hairdressers!

The barber I used as a kid had a MGB when they were cool.

Mate, there's as reason hardly any girls join your club, your bragging needs some improvement:

Why would a woman join a car-owner's club at all, they aren't that daft

Feel free to point out where I said paying in cash wasn't morally wrong? I'm pretty sure I said I pay an invoice ... I didn't specifically say i always pay by bank transfer, but I do, I never pay cash. That's for builders, plumbers ... any trade (apart from hand car wash).

                But keep digging mate.

And feel free to answer when you worked in hospitality as you dodged that question earlier. As you use this as your argument quite a lot, it would be useful to know which decade your anecdotes come from.

There are women on there, but I agree these groups do tend to be male dominated.

My argument still stands though ... but feel free to continue to be jealous like the others that you don't have a decent car.

Your argument that most TT drivers are men because most of the people in the TT owners club are men, even though all car groups tend to be male-dominated?

I don't have a decent car. Well, it's decent in the sense that it works rather than being ostentatious or high performance. But that's by choice... if I wanted a fancy car or a sailing yacht I could but I don't. Boring use of money especially considering I drive about 5 miles once every 2 weeks.
